In late 2022, as part of our Brighton Incoming project, QueenSpark begun interviewing people associated with The Bevy in Moulsecoomb, Brighton & Hove Faith in Action, and Refugee Radio. We wanted to explore why people have arrived, moved around, and stayed in Brighton. Along the way we entered into partnership with Hopeful Solidarities, who had been carrying out interviews of a similar nature with members of the Yiddish Choir, and the Migrant English Project.

We are delighted that the project has resulted in the publication of our new book, Brighton Bound, which features a collection of amazing photographs and stories that tell the story of the last 100 years of migration into our city – and finishes by asking why, in 2024, some people can no longer afford to live here.

You can buy the book here.

You can also listen to a selection of interviews that contributed to the book, presented by Stephen Silverwood, here.
